Assignment 2.2: Hifi protoyping

Based off last week wireframing I will create an interactive high-fidelity prototype. The focus is to make the product feel like a finished product and having the rebranding of Randstad Rail in mind.
To create this prototype I used the wire framing created last week. First of all I added icons in the navigation bar and other places I felt that it would elevate the design. I did this because then it's easier for the user to see what the button or search bar is for. I decided to stick with the blue colour from the Tripp3r logo, which I used as strokes around the squares. I chose this colour since I thought it was the most aesthetically pleasing of the three options. I tried to make an animation with the logo as a starter page. I also made the buttons clickable and the app functioning.
Testing:
I chose to do desirability testing on this prototype because I was the most curious on the design. I would love to improve my design skills, so getting feedback on this was a great opportunity. I did this testing by showing the testers a screen to look at. Thereafter I showed them 25 adjectives (around 40% negative) and asked them to pick out 5 words they think fits to the screen. After that I asked two follow up questions: "What caught your attention first?" & " Could you mention one positive and one negative thing about this screen?". I repeated this three times with different screens.

Improved prototype:
After testing I decided to do some improvements on the prototype. The number one issue I had to solve was the menu bar. It was both confusing and distracting for the testers. To solve this I tried to tone it down by making it smaller and similar style to the rest of the screen. I added titles and a blue overlay that indicates which menu you are in. I also moved the logo to top centre and made the background have a slight blue tint so the white isn't to sharp. The screen is also a bit more centred so the user don't have to look upwards all the time.
Reflective conclusion:
This assignment went well and I'm positively surprised of the outcome. I thought it would be very challenging and that I wouldn't be happy with the design. With that said I enjoyed the process of testing and getting feedback, because I do believe the improved prototype looks a lot better. If I were to do this process a couple times I think the end result would be awesome. The only thing that was a bit of a downside with this testing was that people responded mostly the same on each screen, so for another time I will try to have a bigger difference between the screens.
